More and More

Gentle Readers,
I am afraid that once again you will be subjected to the nostalgia of my childhood.  All of this sorting and purging is becoming a  mammoth task.  The further I dig, the more I find.  Stuff is mutating, I'm sure of it.
I give you.....

The Viewmaster!
I just realized that in my excitement I photographed it upside down. Hmm.  Do any of you remember these?  Please?  Anyone?
I found a ton of shall we say, rather boring reels. Bermuda, Rural Connecticut, Colorado, Cypress Gardens...

Boring for a child, anyway.
I might have a look at this one now.
Huh?  I'm not even Catholic.  There's one of the Vatican City too.

Now this is the good stuff.  Who doesn't love Mary Poppins and the Beverly Hillbillies?
My brother went to expo 67 and all he bought me was this lousy picture reel.
Oh, and a Monkees t shirt too.

I remember playing with this when I little, but I don't remember being allowed to see the monkees!! Just the catholic stuff...no fair!

PS.I think the picture reel is lovely gift, better than just sending a postcard!

Holy Cow! We used to have them too. My mother used to bring them on your trips out west. They kept us quiet for about five minutes. The Monkees and the Beverly Hillbillies and maybe Mary Poppins are probably worth something. Stephen will have to look on ebay. That Canonization of Pius X sounds like more excitement than a barrel of Monkees; that one's definitely a keeper!

Oh, we totally had viewmaster. It was *quiet* fun for all those car trips my folks subjected us too, lol. My sister Donna and I were TOTAL Monkey fans and we were pretty little in 1967 (7 & 5 to be exact, lol). Those were the days :)

Blessings!

Oh yes, I remember my viewmaster; it was red. I actually found it quite boring... I love the nostalgia, Deb, keep it up!

I remember it well but mine was red. I'm sure it's worth something especially with all the reels.
Your purging days look fun...I'm working on my boys' closets and finding some very interesting things! Not too happy about a couple of them! :)

I love seeing this stuff! But my mind is going "Kuching! Kuching!"

E-bay Deb. That haul is Gold!

Actually, I see they're on your etsy site! Brilliant! As a mercenary, you're one step ahead.

It's like a vintage DVD player :) I remember those but mine had Mickey Mouse and Yogi Bear.

Oh Mylanta!! I remember those! My son would love to see the Beverly Hillbillies. We bought him the DVDs and now we have a 9 year old Beverly Hillbillies addict!

Expo 67? I was born that year. Cool!

I had the Mary Poppins! I was obsessed with Mary Poppins when I was in 2nd grade. One of my favorites was the story of Moses. There was some kind of plastic holding the water back as they crossed the Red Sea (right, Red Sea?) and I was endlessly fascinated by it. Fun finds! I can't believe I've missed so many posts. I need to go catch up!

The Monkees! I so loved Davey Jones!! Totally understood Marcia's crush in the Brady Bunch. And Mary Poppins ... We LOVE her in house. Lessons to be learnt by the modern generation on parenting (that would be me I suppose ;-) I have a mid-70's view master & the only reel I had was The Partridge Family ... cmon get happy!!!
